The Perfect Weed Brownie Recipe

The Perfect Weed Brownie Recipe

Thereā€™s no better way to enjoy your first batch of edibles than making a weed brownie.

Weed brownies are that foolproof type of dessert that is sure to satisfy every cannabis aficionado. Not only are they sweet, rich, and full of different textures ā€” crunchy, soft, and ooey gooey ā€” but they also make for just the perfect base for a weed infusion.

Weed brownies are widely available in cannabis dispensaries all over the country and from online vendors, each with slightly different textures, ingredients, flavors, and overall quality.

We all know, however, that nothing can beat a batch of homemade weed brownies.

Making cannabis edibles at home puts you in charge of the quality of the ingredients youā€™re using. We always want to see the best in people, but the treats sold in dispensaries are nowhere near the grade you can achieve once you put on the apron and make the magic happen yourself.

If you have some prior experience with baking, you should handle our weed brownie recipe well. And if youā€™ve already made a few batches of regular homemade brownies, itā€™s all the better.

Before You Start Making Weed Browniesā€¦

Making weed brownies starts way before you enter the kitchen. In fact, your first stop should be a cannabis dispensary ā€” or your grow room.

Select Your Preferred Weed Strain

1. Select Your Preferred Weed Strain

The selected strain will influence your weed brownies in a few ways, including:

  • Potency: Choosing a strain with a moderate THC content will provide you with balanced effects that will allow for enjoying the high without experiencing the overwhelming effects from consuming too much THC. If you donā€™t want to go overboard with your first batch of weed brownies, we recommend staying in the 15ā€“20% range and staying away from THC powerhouses like Bruce Banner or GG#4.
  • Aromas & Flavors: Different strains have different terpene profiles that give them their unique scents and flavors. These features will also influence the character of your brownies. For our weed brownie recipe, we like to use sweet and pungent strains redolent of berry fruits.
  • Effect profile: Make sure you know which type of strain youā€™re using. Sativas tend to provide more invigorating and head-focused effects, whereas most indica strains result in a powerful body high marked by deep relaxation. If you want to get the best of both worlds, choose a hybrid strain whose effect profile matches your preferences.

2. Decarboxylate Your Weed

Eating raw weed wonā€™t cause you to experience psychoactive effects because raw weed has hardly any THC inside. The main compound of raw cannabis flowers is THCA, the acidic and inactive form of THC.

In order to transform into THC, the user needs to apply heat to the flower, part of which takes place during drying the buds, and the rest happens during the act of consumption. But if you want to infuse your brownies with active cannabinoids, you need to decarboxylate them first.

In order to do this, youā€™ll need to set your oven to 230 degrees Fahrenheit, grind your weed into smaller pieces (but not into a fine powder), and bake them inside for roughly 30 minutes, stirring every now and then.

Decarboxylation ensures that youā€™ll end up with a more potent end product.

3. Choose Your Cooking Fat

In this section, weā€™ll show you how to make two types of cooking fat for our weed brownie recipe ā€” cannabutter and cannabis oil.

Choose Your Cooking Fat

A) Cannabutter

What youā€™ll need:

  • 1 ounce of ground and decarbed weed
  • 1 liter water
  • 500 g of grass-fed butter
  • Stove
  • Saucepan
  • Fine mesh strainer (or cheesecloth)
  • Glass storage container

How to make cannabutter:

  1. Boil 1 liter of water and add in the butter. Stir to combine, allowing the butter to completely melt into the liquid.
  2. Add your decarbed weed to the pan and turn heat to low immediately. Always keep it within a gentle simmer.
  3. Let the mixture simmer for about 3 hours, stirring from time to time until the mixture has a glossy, buttery texture.
  4. Allow the cannabutter mixture to cool. Strain it through cheesecloth into a glass container and seal it tightly. Squeeze any remaining weed in the cheesecloth to get as much cannabutter as possible.
  5. Store the butter in the fridge until it firms. Discard any remaining water and pat dry the final product.

B) Cannabis Oil

Hereā€™s a vegan-friendly alternative to cannabutter:

What youā€™ll need:

  • 1 cup of ground and decarbed weed
  • 1 cup coconut oil/olive oil/canola oil
  • Stove
  • Saucepan
  • Strainer or cheesecloth
  • Glass storage

How to make cannabis oil:

  • Grab the saucepan and place it over low heat. Warm the dish up for a minute before adding weed and oil.
  • Let your weed/oil mixture simmer on low heat for about 3 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. Use a thermometer if you want to have better control over heat ā€” donā€™t go beyond 245 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Cool your mixture, then strain it through cheesecloth into a glass container. Squeeze the flower to maximize your yields.
  • Store in a cool and dark place.

The Perfect Weed Brownie Recipe: A Step-by-Step Guide

There are hundreds of weed brownie recipes you can find online, but mark our words ā€” this is the best and the only one you need in your life. Just make sure you practice your willpower beforehand, as these brownies are as tempting as the devil himself.

Note: this recipe uses butter, but if you prefer, you can substitute it with just the same amount of cannabis oil.

What youā€™ll need:

  • 240g high-quality chocolate
  • Ā¾ cup melted cannabutter
  • 1 Ā¼ cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

How to make the best weed brownies:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Break the chocolate into smaller chunks. Melt half of it and save the rest for later.
  3. Mix the melted butter with sugar, then beat in eggs and vanilla paste, mixing until fluffy, smooth, and pale in color.
  4. Stir in the melted chocolate, making sure itā€™s just warm (not too hot). Otherwise, you may end up with scrambled eggs.
  5. Combine the flour with cocoa powder and salt in a separate bowl, sifting the dry ingredients.
  6. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ones using a rubber spatula.
  7. Transfer the brownie batter into your cake pan layed with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Put a toothpick inside your weed brownies to see if theyā€™re done. If the toothpick comes clean, the brownies are just perfect, meaning you can take them out of the oven.
